How do you make your book event a Red Carpet worthy occasion? From award-winning social media posts, to glitzy graphics, to Oscar-worthy snacks, here are some tips to make your event Red Carpet ready!
Make sure you have graphics:
Just like at an actual awards show, the first thing people are going to notice about your event is the way it’s dressed. You don’t want to end up on the Worst Dressed list, so make sure your event has tons of stellar graphics, showcasing your book. From the invites, to social media, to the Facebook event page, make sure everything is cohesive and designed to the nines.
Make it a joint affair:
Another Red Carpet must: an all-star plus one, or in this case as many plus ones as you can get! Invite local authors, as well as authors from your publishing house that share a similar genre. This way, you’ll roll up to the event knowing that your own version of T-Swift’s squad will be there to show you support.
Have a theme to your book tour:
Is this the Tony’s, Oscars or Grammys? Creating a theme is a great way to differentiate your book tour from others. A theme will get people thinking of creative ways to engage with your book and each other. It will also help you come up with fun activity and decoration ideas for your event.

Have food and beverages if the bookstore allows it
Nothing draws people to an event like the promise of food. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, jut little snacks to keep your attendees happy and focused on the main event: you and your novel!
Utilize Social Media
There is no better way to create buzz about your event than posting on social media, Ellen’s Oscars selfie, anyone? Posting on social will draw extra attention to your event. Share your graphics and promotional materials on Instagram and other platforms leading up to the event. If possible have someone post during the event, using a predetermined hashtag, so people who could not attend can follow along!
Document the book tour – Create a Fun Slideshow
There’s nothing better than reliving all the events of a star-studded awards show the next day. It gets people talking and increases the hype surrounding next year’s show. The same goes for your book event! Take as many pictures as possible, so fans that couldn’t be there can feel like they were and fans that could be there can reminisce and share how much fun they had. This will also help build the hype around your future tour stops, showing people how much fun they are guaranteed to have at your Red Carpet worthy event!
